The new school building has been designed to be environmentally sustainable. It is designed around a larch wood frame and has a number of environmental features including water collection from the roof to flush the toilets, water saving taps and movement sensitive lighting systems .

The new building features natural ventilation, rainwater collection and solar panels. Inside the temperature is monitored and controlled by computer which regulates heating and window openers.
The school grounds have been landscaped with trees and plants which will eventually provide a new habitat.
