Assessment is an ongoing process in geography. It is geared towards improving work so that with each test or piece of classwork, homework or coursework all pupils can see how they can improve and how they have improved already.
Geography awards marks in a number of ways:
Coursework is level marked using National Curriculum levels. It is also given an A-E grade for attainment and an A-E grade for effort. Comments are also given providing advice on how a project can be improved further. A sticker or a good work certificate may also be awarded to reward special effort or attainment.
Classwork is assessed by giving A-E grades for attainment and effort. In addition you may be given a “Geog” number, each number relates to a comment on the geography target sheet (found inside your book) and gives advice on improving your work. There may also be a comment written by your teacher.
Full details of assessment should be found in the sheets inside your exercise books. Ask your teacher if these are missing.
